Customer Review: Terrible sizing

As noted by another reviewer, the sizing of Hanes underwear makes them all but useless. One size does definitely not fit all when it comes to briefs. The problem with 2 inch ranges on briefs are an overly tight fit on men at the upper limit of the range and a loose fit for men at the bottom. A loose fit around the legs is an obvious problem for men that like briefs -- in effect they become no better than boxer shorts for containing the relevant "hardware" (software?).
An even worse problem occurs for men whose waist size is not contained in any of the ranges: I am a 35, and the available size ranges are 32-34 and 36-38. (Even worse, the Hanes briefs sold in Walmart are four inch ranges, again with gaps.) I have always bought size 34 (back when sizes were available at 32, 34, 36, 38, etc). That worked Ok, except that the elastic tended to wear out faster due to the snug fit. I can live with that, but I can't deal with briefs that provide no better fit that boxer shorts...
Jockey briefs are available in 32, 34, 36 (etc) inch sizes but I have never liked their fit as well. But I'll be switching for now until Hanes wakes up. Perhaps they won't, in which case they have lost the business of a 40-year customer.
